Control units

Control unit programming and coding

A used control unit is often an affordable way to fix a car, but it has to be programmed and adapted to the car. That is our area of expertise.

What we do

  • Programming used control units and adapting them to the car: engine and gearbox control units, airbag modules, instrument clusters and other modules.
  • Coding: enabling features, coding retrofitted parts and adapting replaced units.
  • Immobiliser matching when a control unit or key is replaced.
  • Software updates and transferring module data.

Why a used unit does not just plug in

A modern car is a set of control units that talk to each other. A used unit carries another car's VIN, immobiliser data and equipment coding. Without adaptation the car may not start, or warning lights stay on.

Before you buy a used unit, send us its part number and the car details. We will tell you whether adaptation is possible and what it takes, so no money goes on the wrong part.

Frequently asked

Can a used control unit be fitted to my car?

Often, yes. The unit usually has to be programmed and adapted to the car (immobiliser, VIN and equipment coding). Send us the part number and the car details before you buy, and we will tell you whether it can be done.

How much do programming and coding cost?

Programming is billed at €100/h (VAT included). Coding is priced per job and control unit. The time depends on the car and the unit, so ask for an estimate.

Do you do coding, such as enabling features?

Yes. We code retrofitted parts and equipment to work, and adapt replaced units to the car.

The more detail you give, the sooner we can tell you what the job takes.
